About The Nurture Barn
I remember when my daughter Olivia started crawling and exploring but I still wanted to meet friends, with or without kids, for good coffee and healthy food in stylish places with lots of natural light and an outdoors when warm.
It was just impossible when she started wriggling we often felt a nuisance to others’ enjoyment, if they were without kids. I didn’t like leaving her in the car seat as there was nowhere to lay her down, or imprisoning her in a high chair while we chatted, giving her menus/spoons to keep her busy for 2 secs. so we could have a long awaited catch up together.
I had a lot of experience with babies and toddlers, I chaired a large NCT branch and it kept coming back to the fact that something was missing locally.

Some of the fun to be had......
From the moment you walk in, you can let them roam. even little Hoodins, as the only way in and out of The Nurture Barn is through the safely gated front door you just came in. Our garden is only accessible through our cafe and is fenced and locked. Next to our Cafe, we have our lovely, calm Baby Area with fake sensory grass, soft climbing shapes out for climbing and tumbling, books, sofas to read with them and a low slide and climbing frame plus many puzzles and toys, all wooden.
Upstairs though the child friendly gate, is where the toddlers love to go. A den up a ladder, spider web cimbing frame, a home and kitchen, a gas station, ride ons, trains, building blocks, a giant dolls house, fancy dress and a stage is part of our simple, wooden play. Feel free to play upstairs and us shout you when lunch is ready. Outside has a Den on stilts with a slide, little huts, tyres, sandpits and a secret walkway through glorious trees we planted in 2015. Warm weather brings out paddling pools daily too.
Our wooden climbing frame and slide are such a hit with little ones. Low but big enough for them to think they are high up. Upstairs is a raised den and also a climbing frame for the more adventurous.
This safe area is fenced off to keep it calm and contained. Wooden toys only for development, you can get in with them or leave them playing whilst you sit nearby and have a coffee.
Our secure, fenced garden has shady gazebos with paddling pools out in warm weather. Tyres, mini huts, climbing frames and sandpits keep them busy.
Princesses, Doctors, Builders, Knights, Hats, Bags, Fairy Wings are all there for them to help themselves to. Plus our stage means they can show you a performance!
A wooden Kitchen, Shop, Petrol Station, House keep them very busy upstairs. Play supermarkets with wooden food and mini baskets and get into their world.
Our Cafe has enough seating for everyone, inside and outide and flooded with natural light. We have over 20 highchairs and plastic plates, cutlery and cups for them. Don’t worry about the mess or chaos we are used to it.
