PLAY @ THE NURTURE BARN
As well as having fun, we have put an emphasis on ‘learning through play’ and ‘open ended play’ for their development
On entering, please turn left to register yourself and pay entry for your little one, adults are free. If you have not been before, we would be happy to show you around. The barn is intimate so we are always praised for how well it works, if you have multiple kids of different ages.
Downstairs is a beautiful play area for babies, who have started to crawl and explore, with a wooden pen area to keep them safe, ride ons, climbing equipment and lots of cushions to climb over. Our strategically placed 5 star rated café area is right there too, catering for all allergies and allowing you to have a coffee, whilst watching them. Bring your baby from new born, there is always something for them to see.
Upstairs, with a mini bannister as we have tried to think of everything, is a whole floor dedicated to toddlers and pre school kids. There is a wooden village including shop, kitchen and café, a treehouse, a climbing area and a train section.
Books play an important role upstairs too and there are plenty of fancy dress outfits for those with imagination and a theatre area for their impromptu performances. As well as having fun, we have put an emphasis on ‘learning through play’ and ‘open ended play’ to support early learning and improve outcomes for their children (EYFS) – so all toys have been chosen for a reason to aid their development too.
Always welcome, but with proof of your OFSTED/PACEY document showing Early Years, entries before 10am Mon-Fri, will be charged just £6 in total for your whole group of under 5’s per ratio’d adult.
Please note you are not allowed to feed your children their own food and all allergies are catered for.
We have set up a new Facebook Page for parents and carers of Under 5’s with Special Needs and we would like to get opinions about setting up a safe, dedicated play session at ours.
Some of the fun to be had......
From the moment you walk in, you can let go of your children, as the only way in and out of The Nurture Barn is through the front door you just came in. Our garden is only accessible through our cafe and is fenced and locked. Next to our Cafe, we have our lovely, calm Baby Area with fake sensory grass, soft climbing shapes out for climbing and tumbling, books, sofas to read with them and a low slide and climbing frame plus many puzzles and toys, all wooden.
Upstairs though the child friendly gate, is where the toddlers love to go. A den up a ladder, spider web cimbing frame, a home and kitchen, a gas station, ride ons, trains, building blocks, a giant dolls house, fancy dress and a stage is part of our simple, wooden play. Feel free to play upstairs and us shout you when lunch is ready. Outside has a Den on stilts with a slide, little huts, tyres, sandpits and a secret walkway through glorious trees we planted in 2015. Warm weather brings out paddling pools daily too.
Our wooden climbing frame and slide are such a hit with little ones. Low but big enough for them to think they are high up. Upstairs is a raised den and also a climbing frame for the more adventurous.
This safe area is fenced off to keep it calm and contained. Wooden toys only for development, you can get in with them or leave them playing whilst you sit nearby and have a coffee.
Our secure, fenced garden has shady gazebos with paddling pools out in warm weather. Tyres, mini huts, climbing frames and sandpits keep them busy.
Princesses, Doctors, Builders, Knights, Hats, Bags, Fairy Wings are all there for them to help themselves to. Plus our stage means they can put on their own performance!
A wooden kitchen, shop, petrol station, house keep them very busy upstairs. Play supermarkets with wooden food and mini baskets and let them cook you dinner and look after you.
Our Cafe has enough seating for everyone, inside and outide and flooded with natural light. We have over 20 highchairs and plastic plates, cutlery and cups for them. Don’t worry about the mess or chaos – we are used to it.
